If you opt for the morning shift, we will gather with the local guide at 10:30 a.m. at the designated meeting point, or at 4:00 p.m. if you choose the afternoon shift. Our bilingual guide, fluent in both Spanish and English, will provide a brief overview of the tour, detailing what you can expect to experience over the next two and a half hours.
The tour will commence at La Matuna, where we'll pause to savor two traditional treats: ceviche and patacón with whey and cheese. These fresh, local flavors represent some of the most iconic dishes in the region.
Our journey will then take us to the Portal de los Dulces, a historic and sweet-filled location where you can sample the traditional sweets of Colombia and the Caribbean region. The fusion of Spanish, African, and indigenous influences in these confections is sure to impress.
We will proceed to the San Diego neighborhood, known for its rich culinary heritage. Here, you'll have the opportunity to taste Cartagena's famed fried foods, including egg arepa, carimañola, and stuffed potato. Additionally, you'll be able to enjoy a traditional Cartagena soup, ideal for the city's warm climate.
Our next destination will be Plaza del Estudiante, where we'll indulge in pandebono, a cheese bread originating from Valle del Cauca. You'll also have the opportunity to enjoy natural Caribbean fruit juices, perfect for a refreshing pause.
